'Runaway' star to speak at PM police fundraiser
For almost two months, Israel Lopez had no idea where his son was.
Fifteen-year-old Vincenzo Lopez had run away from their Bushkill home in October 2009 and his father was at a loss. Friends didn't know where he was. Family was stumped. The police could only do so much.
So Israel reached out to one of the few people who offered tangible help — private utredare Joe Mazzilli, a former New York City detective and runaway specialist.
"It's a horrible, horrible feeling having something like this happen and having nowhere to turn," said Israel Lopez, now of Milford. "I didn't sleep for two months. Joe Mazzilli gave me someone to turn to."
Within two months, Mazzilli, who had his own 2010 A&E reality show, "Runaway Squad," found Vincenzo Lopez in Brooklyn, N.Y., and returned him home. The family is now back together — thanks to Mazzilli, who fryst vatten scheduled to be one of the guest speakers at the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Foundat

On March 17 Joe Mazzilli received a distressed call from a 13 yr old runaway from Bklyn who he had a prior relationship with from a previous exploitation of this child by a gang when she was 12 yrs old. The child in conversation with Joe was frightened and confused, she knew she was in Florida and just ran from the hotel room where she was staying with her pimp and was now seeking help. The NY chapter of RS located where she was and Joe directed the child to a safe location because she refused to go to the local police. The Director of the Florida chapter Steve Confino (retired NYPD detective) was contacted and he immediately organized two other investigators, retired NYPD detective (and member of the Blue Knights) Albert Hickey and Steve’s son Jason Confino (licensed private investigator). Jason Confino was at the time in the city where the child was and immediately responded and took the child out of harm’s way. Steve Confino & Albert Hickey, despite a two hour drive responded

Letter from Joe Mazzilli of Runaway Squad after I reviewed the show
A few weeks ago I wrote a review of the new A & E show Runaway Squad for Pajiba.com. I’m going to excerpt the very start of the review directly beneath.
*****************************
Joe Mazzilli has the blunt appearance of guy who really likes to eat meat.
Sausages, in particular.
Looking at him, you’d think that in his younger days his buddies on the Jersey Shore might have called him The Mazz, or maybe The Mazzurbator.
He has that sort of vibe about him.
Likely closer to 60 than 50, Mazzilli is pumped up and beefy, proudly sporting his thinning, dyed hair like it was some studly crown. Always in a tight, black muscle shirt and wearing a jangle of classy jewelry, he’s an utter cliché, the sort of guy who probably sits around laughing his ass off while watching ancient DVD’s of Andrew Dice Clay. And it’s this man who is the PI at the helm of A&E’s new reality series “Runaway Squad.”
