Nelson Barbosa
Brazilian economist and politician
Nelson Henrique Barbosa Filho is a Brazilian economist and professor of economics. From 21 December 2015 to 12 May 2016, he was Brazil's Minister of Finance.
Barbosa holds a full professorship at the São Paulo School of Economics of the Getulio Vargas Foundation and is adjunct professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro as well as Researcher at IBRE/FGV and a member of the boards of Cetip and Regional Bank of Brasilia (BRB).[1]
Barbosa holds a PhD in Economics ("Essays on Structuralist Macroeconomics", 2001) from the New School for Social Research in New York City and a master's degree and BA in Economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.

Nelson Barbosa was born in Havana, Cuba arriving in the United States in 1971 with his family at age fourteen. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management and a minor in Business Law from Chicago Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU). At NEIU, he also fulfilled all teaching requirements and taught as a certified teacher for the Chicago Board of Education and City-Wide Colleges until being hired by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in 1986. During his tenure with DEA, he served as a Diversion utredare (DI) responsible for the investigation of legitimate drug matters. In 1990, he became a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) where he retired in 2013 after 24 years of service. Nelson Ned Previdente (14 February 1960), better known as Nelson Barbudo is a Brazilian politician and rural producer, affiliated to the Liberal Party (PL).[1][2]
Biography
[edit]Born in Monte Aprazível, in the interior of the state of São Paulo, Barbudo began his political career in the city of Alto Taquari, a city located in the state of Mato Grosso. He first ran for councillor of Alto Taquari in 2004 and succeeded, being elected with around 281 votes.[3][4
