    Kullu: Manimahesh Yatra will be conducted in accordance with a new SOP and the recommendations of a joint committee in order to prevent environmental damage due to overcrowding, Himachal govt has informed the National Green Tribunal.
    Every year during the monsoon, lakhs of pilgrims trek for 13km from Hadsar village in the tribal Bharmour region of Chamba to take a holy dip in the Manimahesh lake, located at an altitude of 13,ft in the foothills of Mount Kailash.
    In a status report submitted to NGT Feb 1, chief secretary Prabodh Saxena said appropriate directions have been issued to the departments concerned to ensure that the yatra is better organised this time.

    New rule for EPF death claim: Is Aadhaar seeding mandatory for physical claims?

    The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) announced that in the event of an EPF member's death, it has received specific references from field offices stating that they cannot seed and validate Aadhaar. The EPFO stated in a circular dated May 17, , that in certain instances, filing officials could not process the aforementioned physical claims, which caused an unwarranted delay in the prompt transfer of compensation to the affected claimants.
