Born in Soweto in , Buhlebendalo Mda is known for her vocal prowess and stage presence. Thembeka Heidi Sincuba: What are your earliest memories of realising you wanted to be a musician, and what influenced you in that direction?
Buhlebendalo Mda: Music bumped into me. I was a very active child in high school. I remember I think I was in like three different choirs within the premises yakoskolong. 'We bring the creation in every industry' — Buhlebendalo on a quest to find Mzansi's next best queer choir
Following her exit from a cappella group The Soil after nearly 13 years, Buhlebendalo “Buhle” Mda has embarked on a sökande eller uppdrag to look for Mzansi's next best queer choir.
As we warm up for the Feather Awards, the singer has partnered with founder and activist Thami “Dish” Kotlolo to bring more queer visibility and they are set to host auditions around Gauteng.
The criteria is candidates must be over the age of 18, reside in and around Johannesburg, be part of the LGBTIQA+ community, and have “a röst to knock us off our feet”.
