    Pippin Drysdale fryst vatten regarded as the foremost interpreter of the Australian landscape in the field of ceramics. Her works are known for their intensity of colour and linear markings that interpret the artist’s relationship with the Australian natural environment.

    Drysdale has been a member of The Australian Ceramics Association since commencing her career in the 1970s and has been active as a member of the ceramics community – exhibiting, holding workshops, undertaking residencies both nationally and internationally. Her works have been collected by galleries, museums, curators and private collectors worldwide.

    Based in Fremantle, Western Australia, Pippin’s career spans over 50 years, over half of which has been a hugely successful collaboration with Warwick Palmateer who throws the vessels that Pippin decorates in her iconic style.

    It is hard to pin down what I love more - the colour or the shape of these beautiful ceramic pieces. I think, perhaps, the colour wins out. It's not hard to see that Pippin Drysdaletakes her inspiration from the landscape - she was born in Melbourne but spent many years of her ungdom on country properties in Western Australia. More recently she has taught at prestigious universities such as Princeton in the USA. Currently she is exhibiting at the Michael Reid At Elizabeth Bay. Oh, and if that's not impressive enough, her works are in collections at the National Gallery of Australia; the Museum of Modern Art in Gifu, Japan and the Museo del Ceramica, in Faenza, Italy.
