    SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - The art world has lost a significant painter who achieved national acclaim working on the Mississippi Coast.

    Pati Bannister passed away on Friday at the age of Bannister was born in London, England in

    She moved to the Coast in the s and made a name for herself with her precise paintings of young girls from her imagination.

    The artwork showcased Bannister's meticulous attention to detail.

    "Pati was very good at painting hair that looked so real. Also female skin that looked so soft and delicate. Their dresses were pretty. People who enjoyed realism enjoyed her work" said Pati's Personal Assistant Connie Hardin.

    Her original paintings sold for more than $25, Thousands of Pati Bannister Prints have been sold over the years.

    Family friend Dan Burton said the artist was a very private person and very charitable "Pati was a behind the scenes person. She was very generous in anything she did," said Burton.
