    Daniel Powter: 'Next Plane Home'

What was the most played song on UK radio between and ? Something by U2 or Coldplay perhaps, or maybe an Arctic Monkeys tune? Rihanna and her 'Umbrella'? Strangely, it's none of those acts. Outdoing all of the above is Canadian singer-songwriter Daniel Powter and his piano pop anthem 'Bad Day'. What's even weirder is that it's taken him three years to release a proper follow-up.

Sadly, 'Next Plane Home' wasn't worth the wait. Sounding like The Feeling without the camp, pop or glam elements that make them fun, Powter's perky piano stylings are grating and his lyrics about an absent lover ("I can't believe I missed your birthday again") are just tedious. The result is a totally forgettable three minutes that won't be enough to shake off Powter's 'one-hit wonder' tag.
