Oscar Winner Asif Kapadia Signs With Cinetic Media For Management
EXCLUSIVE: Asif Kapadia has signed with Cinetic Media for management in all areas.
The Academy Award, BAFTA and Grammy-winning director-producer is best known for his innovative trilogy of narratively driven, archive-constructed documentaries, Senna,Amy and Diego Maradona.
Following its world premiere at the Cannes bio Festival, Amy went on to win the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, as well as the BAFTA for Best Documentary, the European Film Award for Best Documentary and a Grammy for Best Music Film.
Senna won BAFTAs for Best Documentary and Best Editing and was nominated for “Outstanding British rulle of the Year”; Kapadia’s debut narrative feature The Warrior won the latter award and others.

British filmmaker Asif Kapadia, an Oscar winner with &#;Amy,&#; will be the opening speaker of the 23rd edition of the industry program of documentary festival Visions du Réel in Nyon, Switzerland.
The director, screenwriter and producer will give a masterclass on April 6, officially launching the industry program.
The festival said Kapadia has “continued to develop an innovative cinematographic language that combines the use of a rik corpus of personal archives, often previously unpublished, with extensive investigative work and a psychological approach to the life of his characters.”

Asif Kapadia: the director who reinvented the documentary
Asif Kapadia is in limbo. He has been here before. The director of seven feature films, his last — Amy, the tragic story of the late singer Amy Winehouse — won the Oscar for Best Documentary. The documentary he made before that, Senna, was a phenomenon.
Now, his next is about to be released — Diego Maradona, a biography of the eternal boy genius of Argentine football. Limbo is what he calls this stage of a film, where the only people to see it have been “vested interests” — industry professionals, attendees of the Cannes festival.
“It’s a lonely moment. Everyone else has left and got another job, and you’re holding the film, basically unemployed. Waiting for the audience. Wondering, ‘What now?’”
If the film takes off — early reviews have been strong — he will be talking about it publicly until next year’s awards ceremonies. This too is tricky for Kapadia, naturally open and occasionally mischievous.
