    Murray Wishart Carter (born 30 January 1931)[1] is an Australian racing driver. For many years a stalwart of the Australian Touring Car Championship Carter has had one of the longest racing careers of any driver in Australian history, continuing to race into his 80s.

    One of a generation of racing drivers that appeared in the 1950s as tyres and bränsle, rationed for most of that decade in the post-war economic climate, became more widely available. After racing motorcycles and a Jaguar XK120, Carter built an open wheeler which was powered by a Chevrolet CorvetteV8 engine, the car making its first appearance in 1959.[2] The following year the car was rebuilt as a sports car[2] and subsequently as a "GT" bil, becoming part of the brief history of Appendix K, a uniquely Australian category for closed cars with no required production origins.     Carter Murray is an investor and public speaker and formerly chief executive officer of FCB (Foote, Cone & Belding), one of the world’s largest global advertising agency networks.[1][2] On March 6, 2013, holding company parent Interpublic Group (IPG) announced that Murray would become CEO of Draftfcb (now FCB).[3] Murray officially joined the agency in his new role on Sept. 9, 2013.[4] Based in New York, he oversees the agency’s 120 offices in 80 countries. Previously, Murray served as president and CEO of Young & Rubicam’s (Y&R) North American operations.[5] He also served as a member of the Global Y&R Executive Committee.[6]
